1960 + 美國民權運動（Civil Rights Movement）興起，引發美國少數民族的
自覺運動，爭取居住、就業、入學等平等待遇。
The Civil Rights Movement enlarges its aims to include subordi-
nate ethnicities to realize and strive for the rights of their racial
dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency, and freedom from
oppression by whites.

1961 + 總統甘迺迪為進一步幫助南越吳廷琰政府，派遣一支特種部隊進駐，
也是美軍戰鬥部隊首度進入越南，故常被認為是「越戰」開始的標
誌。
During the Kennedy Administration, the United States help sup-
port WuTing Yan’s government in South Vietnam in an anti-com-
munist war against North Vietnam and its allies; this is known
today as the “Vietnam War.”

1962 + 香港出現難民潮，美國政府特別容許收容15,000名中國難民。
The United States accepts over 15,000 refugees from Hong Kong.

1965 + 國會通過新移民法案，取消族裔人口比例配額。每國均享有每年2萬移
民配額。此新法案執行之後，取消了歧視亞裔的舊移民政策，華人移
民激增。
Congress passes a new immigration act eliminating quota limit
on immigrants. There is an estimate of over 20,000 immigrants
entering the U.S. annually. This new law stops anti-Chinese senti-
ments and discrimination, and Chinese immigration increases
tremendously.

1969 + 中華學校成立「孔教
會」，申請免稅，從此
更名為「中華孔教學
校」。
