To celebrate the 114th anniversary of the Republic of China, CCBA and the Overseas Chinese Associations jointly organized the "114th Southern California Outstanding Youth event", and launched a photo exhibition of cultural relics to show the revolutionary and founding process of the founder, Mr. Sun Yat-sen, and the 72 martyrs of Huanghuagang. The press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony were held at the CCBA assembly hall on the 26th. A special exhibition of "History and Memory of the Founding of People's Republic of China" was launched with the display of 114 precious cultural relics and historical pictures, as well as exhibits and historical videos related to the Huanghuagang martyrs, to further allow a better understanding of such history.

Cultural Center of Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Jane Chung pointed out that the cultural relics and historical pictures of the Huanghuagang martyrs on display were educational and inspiring. She mentioned that the number of martyrs who actually participated in the Battle of Huanghuagang exceeded 72, of which 30 were overseas Chinese, with an average age of only 29 years old. Many of them had good jobs and a good future, but they still resolutely joined the revolution and strived for Dr. Sun Yat-sen's concept of nationalism, democracy, and the welfarism. Jane Chung also said emotionally that the democratic ideals of the Founding Fathers have enabled future generations to enjoy today's freedom, and that this history with blood and tears should not be forgotten.

A total of 16 young people received awards this year, covering academic, technology, art, business, and other fields, including a Ph.D. from Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, and other prestigious universities, as well as outstanding talents in biotechnology, finance, engineering, and art. Other awardees include Stacey Yi, Becky Chen, Winston Chow, Jennine Huang, Sherry Shih, etc., showcasing the outstanding works of the new generation in their respective fields.

Pan American Chinese Friendship Association Chief Executive Michael Cheung pointed out that Outstanding Youth recognition was not only a reward, but also a responsibility. Time tests youth, and the youth create the times. More than 100 years ago, it was a group of young people who cherished their ideals and sacrificed their lives for righteousness to create the Republic of China. He stressed that the historical relics on display fully presented the revolutionary spirit of the martyrs, and these priceless historical assets allowed young people to witness the freedom and democracy of the Republic of China today. He also appealed to the overseas youths to not only integrate into the mainstream society, but also actively participate in associations and public welfare. "We want to create a stage for the 2nd and 3rd generation youths to continue carrying the legacy, serve the community, and become the next leaders".

Southwest Office of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Director Wen Guanghua pointed out that the exhibition of historical relics and pictures commemorated the founding father’s great achievements and martyrdom spirit during the centenary of his death. He said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen founded the Republic of China after 10 uprisings. His revolutionary spirit is like "one lamp can dispel a thousand years of darkness". This inspired future generations to carry on the legacy and uphold the ideals.

CCBA President Norman Nie said that the Outstanding Youth activity commended the elites of the overseas Chinese community, encouraged the new generation to give back, and strengthened the cohesiveness. He pointed out that Chinese culture is timeless, and young people should inherit the Three Principles of the People of the Founding Father, serve and contribute to the country on behalf of the Chinese society.
