Director General Amino Chi visited CCBA

Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) welcomed the new General Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, Amino Chi, to visit CCBA last Sunday, with enthusiastic participation from the CCBA four chiefs and its affiliated associations.

Arrived in Los Angeles in late January this year, General Director Amino Chi, accompanied by Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Ben Chen, visited CCBA for the first time, and was warmly welcomed by President Ernest Lee, Vice President Charlie Seto, Supervisor Chairman CK Woo, Deputy Supervisor Chairman Paul Lam, and representatives of the Chinese Confucius Temple of Los Angeles, Chinese Cemetery of Los Angeles, Welfare Committee and affiliated overseas associations.

President Ernest Lee CCBA has been established for 134 years and witnessed the time change, two world wars, the Chinese Exclusion Act, the transformation of political parties in Taiwan, and the new Coronavirus pandemic. He said that while Chinese people have taken root in the United States and enjoyed free and democratic life, but also concern about minority. He said that during the pandemic, CCBA collaborated with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles to donate lunches and Covid protection supply to the elderly in Chinatown. Recently, CCBA did fundraising for earthquake victims in Turkey and give to United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for distribution to those in need, showing love regardless of country.

Amino Chi said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen overthrew the weak dictator Manchurian Qing dynasty and established Taiwan, and now the spirit of freedom, democracy, equality, and fraternity advocated by the founding father has been fully realized in Taiwan。 He said the establishment of the Republic of China is inextricably linked to the Cantonese people. Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Lu Haodong and many other revolutionary martyrs are Cantonese. Many of the ten revolutionary uprisings occurred in Canton, and CCBA also provided great help during the Founding Father Revolution.

Amino Chi said that Chinese people live and work in the United States, enjoy a free and democratic life, and firmly support the Republic of China. Flag of Republic of China is raised within Los Angeles Chinatown. He expressed sincere gratitude and respect on behalf of the government as CCBA plays a key role.

Ernest Lee presented the "CCBA 130th Anniversary Special Edition" to Amino Chi as a keepsake and reference for the history of CCBA and its affiliated associations.

Accompanied by CCBA four chiefs, Amino Chi and representatives of the affiliated association went to the Bronze Statue of the Sun Yat-sen in the Central Plaza to lay flowers to show the utmost respect to a great person.
