本會曾數度更名，早前曾為「渭濱堂」及 「羅省呂渭濱公所」。

前身為「渭濱堂」

同治末光緒初年間（1870-1880年）中國廣 東新會呂姓人氏相繼來羅省謀生，專業中國 農產品種植, 批發及其他職業。繼後人數增 加，為求宗親互助共濟，固謀公益，及慎終 追遠之精神，逐成立會所。初因為先祖姜太 公呂望釣魚於渭水之河邊，取用「渭濱堂」 名稱為會所之名，召集開會，多在舊華埠(現 址為聯合火車站（ Union Station）之＜新興 號＞內舉行，後因為舊華埠被拆用興建聯合 火車站，＜新興號＞也被拆除。會所隨後遷 到北市丙令街（ North Spring Street），並由 「渭濱堂」改「呂渭濱公所」。

2001 年更名「呂氏宗親會」

1962年，再搬至聖敘利安街（ San Julian St.）。2000年，會館所在的建築物要改建 拆除，只有暫時遷往呂裕隆宗長的家中繼續 呂渭濱公所的活動。2007年詩澄宗長當任主 席，公所再次搬遷至現時蒙特利市詩澄宗長的倉庫內。

2001年，鑒於呂氏居住洛杉磯縣人口漸 眾，很多都是來於中國大陸各省，台灣及世 界各地,遂改名為「呂氏宗親會」，再不止限 於廣東新會人仕，開放歡迎凡我中華兒女之 呂氏宗親參加為會員。

呂氏宗親會一向以團結宗親，發揚中國文 化，促進社會公益為宗旨。

宗親會之活動每年有春宴，春秋二祭祖 先，清明掃墓，團年等等慶祝會及其他節 目。

在 渭 濱 堂 成 立 後 至 改 名 呂 渭 濱 公 所 期 間，正副主席之職，初期由安統、繼統、統 相、振中、明洲等分副擔任。1923年至1935 年間，正副主席由緒攝、傳護、傳基、緒 給、家賓、統禎、緯明等相繼任理。1936年 至1948年，正副主席由呂登及呂積互相擔 任。1949年至1951年呂天保為主席、呂登及 呂積為副主席。

All the Louie Families came to Los Angeles during 1870 thru 1880 are from Sunwai, Kwangtung, China. Most of them found works in agriculture feld and wholesale produce business, specialize in Chinese vegetables. Some found works in other professions, like restaurants. As the number of the countrymen increases, they formed the Louie Family Association to socialize and help out each other to deal with their new life in America. The name of the Association had been changed from “Way Ben Tong” to “Louie Way Ben Association of Los Angeles” and fnally to “Louie Family Association of Los Angeles”. In 2001 we open up our membership to all Louie from over the World and not limit to those coming from Sunwai, Kwangtung, China only.
