The CCBA Outstanding Youth Award Ceremony commended outstanding young talents from overseas

CCBA hosted the Southern California 114th Outstanding Youth Award Ceremony dinner on March 30th at Chinatown Golden Dragon Restaurant. It aimed to recognize young people who excelled in academics, social services, entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage. Overseas Chinese leaders, government officials, and young talents from all walks of life participated in the grand event. The dinner was presided over by Stanlar Wong, Daisy Ma, and Kevin Yang.


Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director General Amino Chi and his wife, US Congresswoman Judy Chu, Cultural Center of Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Jane Chung, CCBA President Norman Nie, Vice President Lester Gee, Supervisor Chairwoman Kathleen Cheung, and Supervisor Vice Chairman Kin Wai Ng. Pan American Chinese Friendship Association Chief Executive Michael Cheung, CCBA senior advisor Derek Ma, Chinatown Service Center Peter Ng, American Vietnamese-Cambodian-Liao Chinese Association representative Luo Ming, as well as other officials and guests attended the event. Speeches were delivered congratulating the Outstanding Youth winners. Judy Chu was the presenter for the Outstanding Youth winners.


Amino Chi said that Youth Day is to commemorate the 72 martyrs of Huanghuagang. These young people, with an average age of 29 years old, then dedicated their lives to the country. The younger generation forged ahead into the future to pursue their ideals and change society. He congratulated all winners and encouraged the younger generation to bravely pursue their dreams and face the challenges.


Norman Nie warmly congratulated all 16 outstanding youth winners from various fields, including doctors, masters, and engineers, ongoing students, as well as outstanding young folks with achievements in their respective fields after graduating from university. He said that the Outstanding Youth committee hoped this annual selection of outstanding youths would encourage the next generation to study hard and contribute to society in the future. Also, this event would further promote the legacy and recognition of the founding father, Mr. Sun Yat-sen’s concept. This would contribute to the development of Chinese culture and the unity of the Chinese.

More than 300 guests witnessed the glorious moment of 16 outstanding youth winners. The Outstanding Youth Committee hoped to inspire and encourage the younger generation to become the backbone of society. The event aimed to promote the recognition of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's ideas among overseas Chinese youths and strengthen the ties between the Chinese community. Additional similar activities for the younger generation are hoped to encourage them to carry on the Chinese culture, continue the Three Principles of the People, and actively participate in social welfare and development.





After the award ceremony, Kathleen Cheung, on behalf of the Outstanding Youth organizing committee, thanked all sponsors and staff for their hard work, and looked forward to continuing to hold more activities to stimulate youth development in the future. Subsequently, Sandy Fong, Lulu Yuan, and Teresa Lin hosted the entertainment program, a perfect ending to the night’s event.


On that day, the 16 winners include: Stacey Yi from Chinese American Citizens Alliance, Jessica Yuan from Chinese Women’s New Life Movement Club, Jason Dong from Gee How Oak Tien Association, Chia Wei Liu from Southern California Chinese Universities Alumni Association, Brad Liu from Southwest Office of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Terry Kuo from National Taiwan University alumni association of Southern California, Becky Chen from American Hakka Federation, Emily Yi from Jan Ying Benevolent Association, Yanqi Liu from Hoy Sun Ning Yung Association, Sherry Shih from National Taiwan University alumni association of Southern California, Jennine Huang from Global Federation of Chinese Business Women Greater Los Angeles Chapter, Dian Yu from American Chinese Dance Association, Sih-Yao Chow from California Taiwan Fellowship Association, Winston Chow from Southern California Chien-Kuo High School Alumni, Hsin-Yi Kao from Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Los Angeles/World Chinese Association Southern California Chapter and Julie Chen from Hakka Federation of USA.
