Guests gathering for the CCBA four heads inauguration

The inauguration and handover ceremony of the CCBA four heads in 2022, as well as the inauguration and handover ceremony of the chairmen of the Confucius School Board, the Cemetery Committee, the Welfare Committee, was held on the afternoon of the 1st. Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new CCBA four heads. Monterey Park Mayor Henry Lo and Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director General Louis Huang, presided over the ceremony of handing over the seals and oath-taking ceremony for the directors and supervisors. Outgoing CCBA President Mei Lau and new President Andrew Kwong delivered speeches respectively as well as Director General Louis Huang.


The newly-appointed CCBA four heads are President Andrew Kwong, Vice President Stanley Chow, Supervisor Chairwoman Angela Cai, and Vice Chairman C.K. Woo. A full house attendance and a lion dance intensified the New Year's Day atmosphere. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the event officially began with Jeff Prang’s presiding sworn in and followed by the handover ceremony.


Outgoing President Mei Lau expressed her gratitude to the CCBA team for their efforts in the past two years. Unable to work much within the Covid pandemic period, the team received support from the Chinatown Service Center, Cultural Center of Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and 628 American Legion, lunch boxes and anti-epidemic materials were donated to vulnerable groups in the past two years. As the first female CCBA President in more than 100 years since its establishment, she felt that she had fulfilled her duties with conscience.


Former CCBA Supervisor Chairman, now New CCBA President Andrew Kwong said that his goal is to revitalize Chinatown, develop cultural undertakings, expand the scale to attract young US born newcomers, and organize functional groups to maintain the continued development of CCBA and its affiliated overseas Chinese community.


New Supervisor Angela Cai said that she will work with the team to carry out the supervisory duties in accordance with the CCBA bylaws, and provide assistance to the Board of Directors.


Various associations and Chinese American elected officials attended the sworn in ceremony. It was followed by flower offering to the bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen at the Central Plaza. A thank you banquet was held at the Golden Dragon Restaurant in the same evening. Taipei Overseas Chinese National Salvation Federation Chairman Zheng Zhiyi sent in congratulatory message to the 2022 newly-elected CCBA four heads.
