The ideal of the founding father is also embodied in the persistence of freedom and democracy among all overseas Chinese in Southern California. The founding father began the revolution and visited Los Angeles four times. He received strong assistance from the overseas Chinese in Los Angeles. The overseas Chinese have persisted in practicing the founding father's freedom and democracy concept, supporting Taiwan of the Republic of China, and guarding the hard-won freedom and democracy. The activities of the day ended successfully with the singing of the commemorative song of the founding father.

The Los Angeles Chinatown has held a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the birth of Sun Yat-sen for decades. Former CCBA President and member of the Standing Committee of the West Branch of the Chinese Kuomintang Party Michael Chang said that 40 years ago, he and his family immigrated to the United States from Macau and participated in the ceremony of commemorating the birthday of the founding father for the very first time. He said that as the founder of the Republic of China and the Chinese Kuomintang, the birthday of Mr. Sun Yat-sen on November 12th and his death on March 12th were commemorated by the overseas Chinese by offering flowers and planting trees respectively for many years, and their importance is the same as that of the National Day of October 10th .
