After the pandemic outbreak, CCBA resumed the Republic of China's 110-year-old Double Ten National Day parade and flag-raising ceremony celebration

In the early morning, the Overseas Chinese groups gathered at the junction of Broadway Street and Bernard Street and began marching to CCBA at 10 a.m. More than 30 groups participated in the parade, including various Associations under CCBA, Traditional Overseas Chinese, New Overseas Chinese and Vietnamese-Cambodian-Liao Overseas Chinese. The live program included the solemn walk of the Chung Hwa Color Guard, the lion troupe, the dragon and lion dance performance, the entrance ceremony of the giant flag of the Republic of China, and the flag-raising ceremony.

Taipei Economics and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director General Louis Huang represented the Government of the Republic of China at the event. He said that more than 100 years ago, Mr. Sun Yat-sen had traveled to the United States to spread the blueprint for national development to overseas Chinese, hoping to establish a free democratic Republic of China. Mr. Yat-sen's concept of "Unite the nations that wait for me in the world to fight together" coincided with the spirit represented by this year's National Day theme, "League of Democracy, Friends of the World". He pointed out that the Communist Party of China now commemorated the revolution, but that it supported a liberal democracy, not authoritarianism. The Republic of China defended the liberal democratic system founded by Sun Yat-sen and looked forward to continue supporting the values of freedom and democracy.

CCBA President Mei Lau said that only the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony could be accomplished last year due to the outbreak. Most people have received the Covid vaccination this year, so it was decided to resume the traditional way of celebrating the Double Ten National Day.

The event attracted a lot of local residents and many Chinese people from different backgrounds. A couple from China’s Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province came with two young children from Baldwin Park. Mr. Zheng wore the flag of the Republic of China and waved the large flag of the Republic of China. His wife held a sign that read "Republic of China - Wenzhou Family in Zhejiang Province". Mr. Zheng said that Chinese should not forget that the Republic of China is the foundation and the heritage of Yan Huang culture spirit. He agreed with Mr. Sun Yat-sen's original idea of establishing the Republic of China, therefore came to participate the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.

After the parade and flag-raising ceremony, the crowd moved to Central Plaza to lay flowers at the bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen. Dinner was held at Golden Dragon Restaurant on the next day, October 10th at 6 p.m. on the night of the Double Ten National Day.
