The National Double Ten Day on-line zoom video and flag raising ceremony of CCBA

CCBA celebrated the 109th Anniversary of the Republic of China Double Ten on October 10th with flag-raising ceremony and flower wreath offering at the bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Due to the pandemic, this activity was presented using an on line zoom participation. Short congratulatory video from Overseas Chinese Council also was broadcasted. Flag waving livened up the atmosphere.

Both the Chinatown Veterans 628 Association and Chung Hwa Color Guard started off the event, with singing of the national anthem of the United States and the Republic of China and the national flag song of the Republic of China. Everyone sang along in this flag raising ceremony to celebrate the 109th birthday of the Republic of China.

CCBA President Mei Wah Lau thanked everyone’s participation on today’s events despite the Covid-19 pandemic impact. Even though the activities this year were not the same as prior years with parade and dinner banquet, the support for the Republic of China from everyone remained the same, and well wishes to the birthday of Republic of China.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Huang Minjing said that Sun Yat-sen’s led-revolution 109 years ago established the first democratic country in Asia – Republic of China, and advocates the Three Principles of People, i.e., Nationalism, Democracy and Livelihood of the People. Every Chinese should have this power of democracy system. Huang Minjing also mentioned that the US/Taiwan relationship has blossomed in the last 41 years. He hoped for a more complete and close-knit cooperation pertinent to trade and safety and well wish blessings to both US and Taiwan.

Follow on were congratulatory speeches from Overseas Chinese Affairs Advisory Committee Gao Qizheng, Pan American Chinese Friendship Association Chief Executive Zhang Ziyou, Overseas Chinese Affairs Advisory Committee Peter Ng, President of the California Taiwan Fellowship Association, Xu Zongyou, Southern California Chinese University College Xu Guoyong, Overseas Chinese Affairs Advisory Committee Liang Yongtai, Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee Lo Ming and Chi Jinglin. They represented the Traditional Overseas Chinese, Southern California New Overseas Chinese and US Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos Chinese groups and Hanwha. After the flag raising ceremony and cake cutting, everyone moved to Dr. Sun Yat-sen bronze statue for flower wreath offering. Also present for the event were Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Deputy Director Lin Huicheng, Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Zhang Haojun, CCBA Vice President Ernest Lee, Supervisor Chairman Andrew Kwong, Supervisor Vice Chairwoman Cai Huiling, Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee Zhang Yungzhong, Yang Jiagan, Wu zhanchi, Wen Yuling, Zhao Yunmei, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Deputy Director Ye Lijie, Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Deputy Director Jian Haonan and representatives from each Chinese Association.
