Director General Huang Min Jing of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles visited CCBA

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Huang Minjing and Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Zhang Haojun visited CCBA on September 12th. In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the meeting was held in two separate groups with a specially-prepared welcome cake.

CCBA President Mei Wah Lau said in a welcome speech that CCBA has been established for 131 years and is an overseas Chinese group organization with fine traditions. The Coronavirus pandemic severity in this year greatly affected the restaurants in Chinatown, which caused meal difficulties for the elders. Sincere thanks to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles for jointly participating in the meal delivery program for the disadvantaged elderly in Chinatown. On behalf of CCBA, she expressed sincere gratitude to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and well wishes to Huang Minjing’s future work in Los Angeles.

Huang Minjing said that he felt everyone’s warmth in his first ever CCBA visit today. The founding father Sun Yat-sen's philosophy of freedom and democracy was realized in Taiwan, the first democratic country in Asia. The firm support of the Republic of China is very moving. In response to Taiwan’s advanced deployment of pandemic prevention, Huang Minjing also specially prepared a Taiwan flag scarf and Taiwanese tea for each representative of the overseas Chinese community and CCBA. At the same time, he urged overseas Chinese to receive flu vaccine before winter.

Director Zhang Haojun also said in a speech that the service concept of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee is people-oriented. Because of the establishment of the Republic of China, overseas Chinese have played a very important role. The Republic of China practices the concept of the founding father Sun Yat-sen, and advocates the Three Principles of People, i.e., Nationalism, Democracy and Livelihood of the People. Democracy, protection of human rights, and respect for the rule of law are already a beacon of freedom for the Chinese world. Hope that everyone will safeguard this hard-won achievement and make the Republic of China prosperous. It is not only the common voice of the descendants of Yan and Huang, but also the mission of everyone’s joint efforts.
